My name is Bill! I live in Bellingham, WA and I spend my time working, climbing, adventuring, travelling, spending time with the people I love and walking dogs.
I produce and record music in a studio I own in Bellingham, WA (Alpenglow Sound), but I also like to work in other studios. I have a good mix of local and international clients and have been doing this since 1993.
Important to me is the creative process and capturing sounds and performances which truly give the music feeling and engage the listener while staying true to the artists vision.
I work with bands, singer-songwriters, orchestras, film companies and voice-over artists. Here is some of my work:
On-location orchestral/group/band audio recording. Full on quality. No location too remote. I will drive, fly, bike, hike, ski, boat, hitch, walk or even climb with a Decca Tree on my back to the venue.
On-location wilderness/adventure audio recording for documentaries, expeditions, research and podcasts. Dialog, ambience, nature etc.. Including mountains, cliffs, glaciers, canyons and any other vehicle-prohibitive remote/awkward locations. I will go where the other audio engineers you called won't go. I'll even try to hold a camera if you pass it to me.
Sound capture missions. You want original samples, not from a sample library. You need a rare car revving it's engine a certain way. A certain type of babbling brook you can't find a sample for. Footsteps echoing through a particular cave. You need a high-quality sample of a rare eagle in Romania crying to it's young. I will go there by myself and do my best to get that.
